    形容金玉其外败絮其中。沙虱原是指番薯受了感染，表皮外无变化，但其实内部已经变坏，番薯肉会生满黑色小孔，发出难闻气味。该词高明之处是以番薯揶揄对方，在粤语中番薯作形容词有骂某人头脑比较迟钝、呆板的意思，人只会被沙虱咬而并不会生沙虱，说人家生沙虱则暗指别人是番薯了。
